The fine rain falls, the streets are empty and silent, with only a few scattered umbrellas moving slowly. The news of Ethereum's plummet flashes on my phone screen, and my account balance is down to three digits. The desolation outside intertwines with my own downfall.
I am filled with unwillingness; how did I end up in such a situation? From a small-town exam-taker to being admitted to Wuhan University, and then pursuing a master's degree at the University of Hong Kong, I gave my all at every step. Yet now, I have lost everything.
Last year, I quit my job and dove into the cryptocurrency field with 200,000 yuan saved over a year and a half. At first, everything seemed great. I monitored the market daily, researched projects, and analyzed trends, feeling freer than at work, as I was fighting for myself. At that time, I made some money and made a group of friends, all exploring and sharing opportunities together.
From the beginning of the year to the end, I was in good shape, earning over a million yuan cumulatively, but I never withdrew any funds. By December, I struggled to keep up with the fierce market competition and judged that altcoins would enter a boom period, so I decided to bottom-fish BOME. I fantasized about replicating last year's PEPE miracle, buying from 0.008 all the way down to 0.003, but the crash this morning directly led to my liquidation. In fact, the leverage I used was not high, less than 3 times.
I bet everything, yet still lost it all.
The most ironic part is that after returning home, I had my parents bottom-fish as well, letting them buy $bome starting from 0.004, averaging down to 0.003, and today it has nearly halved. I could accept losing money myself, but dragging my parents down with me is truly a sin, sigh.
This year has been like sitting on pins and needles; every day I open the exchange to see my account shrink, and I have no confidence explaining my work to friends and family. Clearly exhausted every day, yet not only have I not made money, but life is also tough, and I face ridicule from relatives saying, "After studying so much, you still don't have a stable job."
I am genuinely curious, who can still make money on exchanges? Coins that have dropped 5 times can drop another 4 times, and they crash 4-5 times as soon as they go online? In this situation, can anyone really make money?
My feelings are exceptionally complex, filled with unwillingness, yet also confusion and helplessness. I clearly feel I have tried my best, yet the results are always unsatisfactory. Those goals that once excited me now feel like paper soaked in rain, blurred and unclear. I don't know where to go in the future, nor do I know if I can bounce back.
